Reserve de Don Carlos Utiel-Requena DOP is a full-bodied red wine cuvée from Spain, vinified from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bobal. The Utiel-Requena DOP origin in the Valencia region is known for characterful red wines with fruit, structure and Mediterranean spice. The wine is aged for 6 months in new American 225-litre barriques. In the glass, it shows a dark cherry-red colour. On the nose, aromas of cherries and forest berries combine with a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, it is full-bodied, softly structured and balanced, with beautifully integrated tannins, fruit, chocolate, sweet vanilla and a warming finish.
Don Carlos combines Spanish wines with Swiss roots. The history of the bodega reaches back to the early 19th century: the ancestors of Carlos Valsangiacomo were already producing wine in Ticino in 1831. Today, the winery in Valencia is run by the fifth generation. Modern cellar technology enables the production of both classic and modern wines from local as well as international grape varieties.
