Alpasión – Wines from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley
Alpasión is located in Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley, one of Mendoza’s defining winegrowing areas at the foot of the Andes. The winery combines the terroir of the High Uco Valley with sustainable and organically oriented vineyard management. The vineyards lie at elevations of around 1,200 to 1,500 metres above sea level, where intense sunlight, dry conditions and cool nights support wines with ripe fruit, freshness, structure and clear aromatics. The project was born from a shared enthusiasm for Argentina, Mendoza and wine. Alpasión focuses on meticulous vineyard work, selective harvesting and vinification that clearly expresses the character of both the grape varieties and their origin. The labels feature the fingerprints and signatures of the people involved in the project—a distinctive symbol of the winery’s collaborative and personal character.
Chacayes Terroir: Altitude, Freshness and Structure
Los Chacayes is located in the Uco Valley and is one of Mendoza’s winegrowing areas particularly associated with structured, fresh and precise red wines. The elevation, free-draining soils, dry air and pronounced temperature differences between day and night allow the grapes to ripen slowly. This results in wines with concentrated fruit, a sound acidic backbone, fine tannins and mineral tension. These conditions are especially important for Malbec, but they also enable varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Syrah to develop clear structure and aromatic depth. Alpasión uses this diversity for both single-varietal wines and cuvées that combine power, freshness, spice and length.
Sustainable Vineyard Management and a Clear Style
Alpasión follows a sustainable and organically oriented approach to vineyard management. The focus is on healthy soils, meticulous vineyard work and respectful interaction with the natural environment of the Uco Valley. The Grand range presents individual varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with greater structure and a more pronounced oak-aged character. Private Selection and Old School represent cuvées with depth, extended maturation and good ageing potential.
