Producer: J. Moreau & Fils, Chablis
Between Dijon and Paris, on the banks of the Serein – a tributary of the Seine – lies the charming wine region of Chablis, part of Burgundy. Chardonnay thrives here on the highly limestone-rich soils. The success story of J. Moreau & Fils began as early as 1814, making it one of the oldest houses in the region. Back then, the young cooper J. Moreau settled in Chablis and married the daughter of a local winegrower. Over the years, this pioneer became one of the most important producers in Chablis. Its expertise is held in as high regard as the unmistakable style of its wines, which are uncompromisingly terroir-driven. What Jean-Joseph Moreau began more than 200 years ago with passion and dedication to winegrowing is now in the hands of oenologist Lucie Depuydt. Born in Chablis, she has an instinct for bringing out the best in every grape. Since 1985, J. Moreau & Fils has been part of the Boisset family.
