Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 300 cl
Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC combines the characteristic Ripasso style of Valpolicella with the generous 300 cl Double Magnum format. The blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella gains additional depth, structure and aromatic richness through the Ripasso method. In this process, the already fermented Valpolicella undergoes a second fermentation on the pomace of the Amarone grapes. In the glass, Ripassa shows a deep, dense cherry-red colour. The bouquet is fruity, with ripe cherries, spices, floral notes and a hint of walnut. On the palate, the wine is dense and full-bodied, yet rounded and velvety, with complex berry aromas and a long finish. The Double Magnum in its original wooden case is particularly well suited to shared meals, larger gatherings and special occasions.
Producer: Azienda Vitivinicola Zenato, San Benedetto di Lugana
Azienda Vitivinicola Zenato is based in San Benedetto di Lugana on the southern shore of Lake Garda and was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato. The family winery is closely connected with both Lugana and Valpolicella. Today, the family’s work is continued by the next generation. Experience in the vineyard and cellar, together with careful handling of the grapes and ageing, shape the wines of Zenato. For the red wines from Valpolicella, the region’s traditional grape varieties and established vinification methods play a central role. The vineyards for Ripassa are located on the hillsides of Valpolicella, on predominantly limestone-rich and stony soils. This origin supports the combination of fruit, structure, freshness and spice that defines the style of this red wine.

FAQ
What stylistically defines Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC?
Ripassa combines ripe cherry and berry fruit with spice, floral notes and a dense, velvety structure. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rounded, with complex fruit and a long finish.
What are the advantages of the 300 cl Double Magnum?
The Double Magnum contains the equivalent of four standard bottles and is particularly well suited to larger gatherings and shared meals. The 300 cl format also provides favourable conditions for slow bottle ageing and is supplied in an original single-bottle wooden case.
How does Ripassa differ from Amarone?
Ripassa starts with an already fermented Valpolicella, which gains additional depth and structure through a second fermentation on the pomace of the Amarone grapes. Amarone, by contrast, is made directly from grapes that have been dried before vinification. As a result, Ripassa is generally fresher and more approachable, while still combining ripe fruit and richness with the characteristic intensity of the Ripasso method.
What is the ideal serving temperature for Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC?
18°C is ideal. At this temperature, the ripe fruit, spice and velvety structure are expressed in balance.
How is Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2020 drinking now?
The 2020 vintage is currently in a harmonious and already well-developed drinking phase. The ripe fruit, spicy notes and velvety structure are well integrated. In the 300 cl Double Magnum, the wine still has potential for harmonious development and, with proper storage, can develop additional mature and spicy nuances.
What does Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC pair best with?
The wine pairs particularly well with lamb loin fillet or lamb rump, Beef Stroganoff, grilled dishes and various Italian dishes. The 300 cl format is particularly well suited to shared meals and larger gatherings.
