The Birth of a Global Star

Cabernet Sauvignon is surprisingly young: it arose only in the 17th century in south-west France, from a chance crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. From Bordeaux it began its triumphal march and today conquers every continent. Its small, thick-skinned berries and late ripening make it a demanding but incomparably expressive grape.

Black Fruit and Noble Tannins: The Character

In the glass, Cabernet is recognised by its deep, dark colour and its typical aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, cedar and a green note of bell pepper or bay leaf. Its hallmark is powerful, firm tannins that give it structure and enormous ageing potential. Aged in barrique, it gains notes of vanilla, tobacco and dark chocolate – and becomes a great, long-lived wine.
