Weinglas-Kunde
The glass is more than an accessory: shape and size steer aroma, temperature and taste – the right glass lifts every wine.
Why shape matters
A wine glass concentrates the aromas and guides the wine to the right part of the tongue. A large bowl gives powerful wines room to breathe, a slim glass preserves freshness. Shape, size and a thin rim make the difference.
The right glass
Powerful reds such as barolo need a large, rounded bowl that unfolds their bouquet. Whites show fresh in slimmer glasses. Sparkling wine is served in the slender tulip, which holds the bubbles longer – the flat coupe is outdated.
Glasses and their wines
- Del Conte Barolo – a large bowl – for complex reds.
- Festival Chardonnay Alto Adige – a medium white glass – focuses the fruit.
- Ciccilla Prosecco – a slender tulip – concentrates the fine bubbles.
Care and storage
Rinse glasses where possible without harsh detergent and polish them with a lint-free cloth. Store them upright so the bowl picks up no odours. A clean, neutral glass is the basis of all enjoyment.
One glass often suffices
You don't need a dozen glasses: a good universal red glass, a white glass and a sparkling glass cover almost everything. If you like, add a large bowl for the very greatest wines.
