Delia Nivolelli Syrah Riserva DOC
Delia Nivolelli Syrah Riserva DOC
from Caruso e Minini illustrates how remarkably this international grape can express itself in western Sicily. The vineyards lie on limestone-rich hills within the Delia Nivolelli district, a micro-area where warm days, constant breezes and cool nights enable Syrah to develop intensity and refinement. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, followed by 24 months of maturation in French oak barrels and an additional six months of bottle ageing.
In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is broad and complex, opening with pronounced floral notes of dried violets and peonies. These are complemented by aromas of black cherry and subtle herbal nuances that add freshness and lift. The aromatic spectrum is layered and elegant, clearly shaped by both the terroir and the long maturation process.
On the palate, the Delia Nivolelli Syrah Riserva is full-bodied, deep and richly textured. The tannins are delicate and finely integrated, contributing to an overall impression of harmony and concentration. The long, spicy finish adds depth and persistence, enhancing the wine’s complexity without overwhelming its elegance. Defined by berry fruit, gentle tannins and refined balance, this Syrah offers both power and approachability.
This Riserva embodies Caruso e Minini’s capacity to unite tradition with precise craftsmanship and respect for local conditions. The combination of Mediterranean climate, mineral soils and carefully controlled winemaking creates a wine of authenticity and style.
Food pairing: Asian cuisine, pasta, barbecue dishes, beef, lamb and cheese.
Caruso e Minini
A success story of two families that has lasted for generations. The winemaking expertise of Sicilian Stefano Caruso coupled with the commercial knowledge of Mario Minini from northern Italy were responsible for the initial foundation. Tradition, competence and vision for the future came together. Today Stefano's daughters Giovanna and Rosanna are involved. The winery covers about 120 hectares of vineyards in the Guyot system. The vines climb up to 450 meters above sea level on calcareous hillsides east of Marsala and are then processed in a building that is over a century old. Thanks to the altitude and the distance from the sea, the grapes ripen particularly well. The result is varietal, characterful and modern wines from Sicilian classics such as Zibibbo and Nero d'Avola, but also from international celebrities like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
