Chardonnay Barrique Vin de Pays Suisse
Chardonnay Barrique
Vin de Pays Suisse
from Komminoth Weine in Maienfeld is a refined white wine from the heart of the Bündner Herrschaft, crafted with great precision and passion. The grapes come from the sun-drenched vineyards around Maienfeld, where the unique Alpine climate and mineral-rich soils give the wines their distinctive freshness and depth. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, this Chardonnay matures for about ten months in carefully selected oak barriques, allowing it to develop its characteristic complexity and fine balance between fruit and wood.
In the glass, it shines with an intense golden hue and shimmering reflections. The bouquet reveals layers of ripe citrus fruits, peach and apricot, complemented by hints of honey, roasted hazelnut and delicate vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and expressive, combining richness with finesse. The creamy texture harmonizes beautifully with a fresh acidity that lends elegance and length to the finish. Every sip unfolds new nuances and confirms the depth of this exceptional wine.
Reminiscent of great Burgundian Chardonnays, it demonstrates how expressive and characterful Swiss wines can be. Its versatility makes it an ideal companion to refined dishes such as fish, poultry, creamy risottos or Mediterranean vegetables.
Served at 10–12 °C, it shows its full personality and balance. With a cellaring potential of more than eight years, this wine will continue to evolve gracefully, revealing even greater complexity over time.
A remarkable Chardonnay that bridges tradition and innovation — elegant, powerful, and deeply memorable.
Komminoth Weine
Maienfeld, Graubünden
Since the Komminoth family pressed its first own wine in Maienfeld in 1980, the enthusiasm for wines from the Bundner Herrschaft has been unbroken. From year to year, the quality of the wines has been further developed with a lot of heart and soul. In the meantime Komminoth is one of the best addresses in the Bundner Herrschaft. Today, about 4.6 hectares of vineyards are cultivated. Paul Komminoth says about his wines and the cultivation philosophy: "I have been looking for my own line from the beginning. I press my sites separately and try to make rich, robust wines that can also mature. Each year has its own face, I want to get the most out of each one, with manual labor, respect for nature, intense relationship with the vines and preservation of the healthy soil." With Lindorna Bella, Paul Komminoth proves that he is open to modern and innovative ideas.
