Laurus Côte Rôtie AOP 75 cl
Laurus Côte Rôtie AOP from Gabriel Meffre is a 100% Syrah from selected parcels in the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde of the northern Rhône Valley. The different terroirs combine the mica schist of the Côte Brune with the gneiss and loess soils of the Côte Blonde. Following hand harvesting and gentle vinification, the wine is aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels. Red fruit, black pepper and liquorice define the aromatic profile, while the palate is structured and full-bodied with a long finish.
Producer: Gabriel Meffre, Gigondas
Maison Gabriel Meffre was founded in 1936 by Gabriel Meffre and his wife Juliette in Gigondas and today operates in various appellations throughout the Rhône Valley. The Laurus range is based on selected parcels, with particular emphasis on the relationship between grape variety and terroir. For the Côte Rôtie, the selected Syrah parcels come from both of the appellation’s major sectors: the mica schist terraces of the Côte Brune contribute structure and complexity, while the gneiss and loess of the Côte Blonde promote finesse and elegance. The vines selected for this wine are on average 26-45 years old.
